Other characters also come in — one Thakur Saheb, a fellow student who's Synopsis: The novel shows you beauty and highness of a girl's heart. Binti, Gesu, Pammi and Buaji too. All he wants to do then is to demolish that self-respect as cruelly as he can. It is a very strong debatable subject but the way author has dealt with it is simply awesome.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. There are some love stories where lovers c I remember reading this book in Standard 8 and being completely baffled, by the strange love story between the protagonists. That's why I hate books. Must read for all hindi literature lovers.

The internal tussle of Chander between carnal love and soulful love was wonderfully depicted. Nowadays, you will rarely see a student-teacher bond like that of Chander and Dr Shukla.

Reading this novel and trying to empathize with the author's or the protagonists' heartfelt agony, for me, was same as searching for buried treasure in a vast field of land. Then I realised that Hindu women are so helpless, they endure so much humiliation and contempt from their husbands and son's, that if they didn't fall back on puja, they would turn into animals. Over time, the novel gained historical importance and a cult following of readers. The way it explores various shades of love has mesmerized me completely.

On the other hand there is the earthwho isthroughout her lifehas been brought up under the love and pampering of the vastness of the sky. Set aside one and half day from your routine if you want to dwell into this marvellous novel. I don't know why, but I detest all this now. Their ideals, choices, emotions all were alive on the pages, and I was sad that the book has ended.
